Lawyer – Master of Laws

​

Mauricio Maturana is a lawyer and holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Chile. He has a solid track record of providing legal counsel to both domestic and international companies and individuals. His professional practice has focused primarily on Labor, Civil, and Commercial Law, addressing complex disputes with a strategic, rigorous, and results-oriented approach.

 

He has worked in both the private and public sectors, notably as Legal Counsel for the Metropolitan Technological University (UTEM), a state university. There, he was responsible for conducting summary investigations and administrative proceedings, issuing resolutions, and providing direct legal counsel to senior authorities, in accordance with the Administrative Statute and the criteria of the Comptroller General of the Republic. This experience allowed him to acquire a deep understanding of the institutional functioning of the State, standards of probity, and decision-making in high-responsibility contexts.

 

In the private sector, he has advised companies in various industries, participating in labor and civil litigation, claims for damages, breach of contract, debt collection, corporate reorganizations, estate planning, and inheritance matters. He also served as legal counsel for the oil and gas group REPSOL YPF Chile S.A., where he was responsible for the company's environmental, commercial, and real estate divisions.

 

Between 2019 and 2020, he served as a Senior Arbitrator, appointed by the Santiago Court of Appeals, in matters of Civil Law, real estate, partitions, damages, and Administrative Law, reinforcing his technical expertise, independence of judgment, and decision-making ability.

In academia, he has been a Full Professor of Labor Litigation at the Law School of Finis Terrae University and is a regular columnist for the newspaper Estrategia, where he publishes legal analyses of public and business interest.

His professional practice is characterized by high ethical standards, integrity, responsibility, and absolute confidentiality, principles that form the basis of his relationships with clients and colleagues.
